NSW deserves better: Chamber

A BUS bearing the message “NSW deserves better” rolled into Lismore yesterday.

It was the third stop on the first day of a tour of 35 locations across the State by the NSW Business Chamber, spreading the word that the State Government needs to lift its game in at least 10 key areas.

“NSW cannot afford another four years like the past four,” said Stephen Cartwright, the chamber's chief executive.

The bus tour followed on from the development of 10 Big Ideas to grow NSW and the Northern Rivers and sought to reinforce those messages, Mr Cartwright said. The priority was better government.

“We don't want to see the rotation of ministerial portfolios, which happens about once a week at the moment, or the nightly soap opera where another MP has been dismissed. We also want to see a real strategic vision for the building of important transport links for infrastructure that we desperately need, and we want our cost base for business to be brought back to be competitive.”

Mr Cartwright said those on the tour would be asking people for their messages for Kristina Keneally and Barry O'Farrell, telling them exactly how NSW could do better.

“We will then post their responses on YouTube,” he said.
