Catholic schoolteacher 1980s child sex trial nears end
EVIDENCE has ended in the child sex trial of former St John's Woodlawn College teacher James Sampson Doran.
Mr Doran faces 37 charges relating to claims he had homosexual intercourse and engaged in other sex acts with students under his care in the 1980s.
Sydney District Court heard allegations Mr Doran had repeatedly taken boys on out-of-town excursions and told them there was a "mix-up” with the beds at their hotel, meaning they had to share a mattress.
He is accused of telling boys they were special and he loved them before performing sex acts on them.
Mr Doran denies all charges.
Judge Robert Toner adjourned the trial with the defence and prosecutors to deliver their closing statements on Monday.
