Shannon Holtzapffel's Audi gets up and boogies

WITH immense talent on the dance floor, it seems So You Think You Can Dance judge Shannon Holtzapffel likes to be equally fleet-footed on the road.

What was your first car?

I've leased, rented and borrowed a few cars over the years, which leads me to say, that my real first car that I bought, is the one I still have.

I bought it in 2011, ordered it in from overseas and went for a long drive as soon as the wheels touched LA bitumen.

I have a black Audi A5 Coupe Quattro. I love everything about it. Sleek body, great handling, and a beautiful interior. It's an awesome ride.

What cars did your family have while you were growing up?

We had a couple of family cars in Brisbane, that I can remember from when I was young, but the one I grew up with was an aqua coloured Mazda Shades 121 that my mother drove. If I remember correctly, it was from 1988, and the most reliable car ever. Never broke down, or have any issues outside the norm. Ran out of petrol once.

We clocked well over 250,000km until it got stolen from our house, stripped for parts, and unfortunately burnt out. I lost a lot of cassettes.

It was a sad day. The Mazda did us good.

What is your greatest frustration on the road?

Apart from inconsiderate drivers, not signalling before merging, and people who drive a little too slow which interferes with flow of traffic, simply, traffic jams can definitely be one of the biggest frustrations for me. Carmaggeddon.

Do you have any preferred driving music?

I listen to a wide range, which also changes my mood in different environments. For example, when cruising up the Pacific Coast highway through Malibu, I love listening to tunes like Empire of the Sun, Passion Pit, Temper Trap and Franz Ferdinand.

While in the hustle and bustle of Hollywood I can get into Drake, Jay-Z and Usher. On my way to work, to get me going, is a whole other story - Daft Punk, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell to mention a few. I should mention that '70s funk discotheque never lets me down, at any moment.

If you were to pick anyone in the world to go on a road trip, who would it be?

I'd have a few choices for different reasons, but my first answer would be my best friend from high school in Brisbane, Nick Frassetto. We'd have to load up some motorbikes on a trailer too.

What is your dream car?

I wouldn't mind having an Audi R8 ...V10 of course. Actually, just a Lamborghini Gallardo would suffice.
