Confirmed: Devondale long-life cream discontinued

UPDATE: Devondale has confirmed it has removed the UHT thickened cream from its product range.

In a statement to Rural Weekly it said:

"Unfortunately, as you have discovered, the Thickened Cream has recently been deleted as we were looking to simplify our product range.

"This decision was made based on a number of factors and we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

"We appreciate your feedback and wish to advise that your comments have been passed to the relevant department.

"Devondale Murray Goulburn would like to assure you that satisfaction of our customers is very important to us and that a wide range of Devondale Dairy Products are available at major retailers across Australia."

EARLIER: SOCIAL media has erupted this week, with rumours Devondale may be discontinuing it's long life cream.

Danielle Doyle from a station in the Northern Territory, more commonly known online as Miss Chardy, posted the following message to Facebook. It has been shared over 1000 times.

"Dear Devondale - I have heard rumours that you might be discontinuing your long life cream. This can't be. Surely not. So I just wanted to jump on here and tell you how much we love your long life cream.

"You see we live 5 hours from town, on a cattle station in the middle of nowhere in the NT - so fresh cream really isn't a fabulous option for us. We use this long life cream almost daily. It is the best and such a life saver. In fact I have a beef stroganoff in the slow cooker as we speak - Instead of sour cream I just add your long life cream at the end - perfect. I also just used a carton to make some creamy garlic sauce to go over steak. Yum!

"I know I speak for all my friends, who live on remote stations, when I say - PLEASE DON'T DISCONTINUE THIS PRODUCT.

"So to anyone who loves this product and wants Devondale to keep producing it, please LIKE, SHARE and tell us where you live and what you use it for. SHOW US YOUR PHOTOS, be it one carton or 5 boxes. Lets show Devondale what an outback pantry looks like.

"We buy about 6 boxes of this stuff at a time. What on earth will I do if you stop making it Devondale... won't someone think of the people who live at Bum Truck Nowhere??!!! (Devondale - if you would like to know just what life in the middle of nowhere looks like just head over to We love you Devondale... please keep making us smile with your cream!!"

Comments flowed from across the country.

Lisa Pearl Robertson from regional Western Australia said she works at the local IGA.

"We sell heaps of this cream, boss rang Devondale and the lady he spoke to said the reason they were taking it off the market (not making it) was because it was so popular that they can't keep up with demand????" she wrote.

"I find this absolutely the most ridiculous business decision I've heard of, if it's true.

"For goodness sake stop making one of the many different milks Devondale make and continue making an item that is in so much demand."

Rural Weekly is still waiting to hear back from Devondale to see if the rumours are true.
