Cameron off to Aussie surfing masters
ONE week after winning the Over 60s category of the Byron Bay Boardriders BK Classic, Neil Cameron has been crowned champion of the Over-60 men's final at the 2015 HIF NSW Surfmasters Titles presented by Moby's Beachside Retreat at South Boomerang Beach.
His most recent win qualifies him for the Australian Masters competition to be held in August in Coffs Harbour.
In clinching the win organisers said Mr Cameron, a goofy footer, showed the prowess of a surfer decades younger, "throwing down massive turns in solid sections."
Neil is no stranger to winning competitions having come 5th in the 2010 World Masters Event in Panama.
His victory in the BK Classic was no mean feat either having defeated multiple world and Australian champion Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew.
Mr Cameron said the secret of his success was wave selection and keeping it simple.
"I still surf everyday against surfers of different abilities and all ages," he said.
