Call to go ‘green’ in 2010

Byron Shire Council has launched a series of sustainability fact sheets in an effort to encourage residents to have a sustainable start to 2010.

Council’s sustainability officer Graeme Williams said the fact sheets contained a wealth of ideas to support sustainable lifestyles.

“The fact sheets include tips on how to save water and energy, reduce food miles by eating locally, as well as embracing green cleaning and sustainable shopping habits,” he said.

“The guides will empower local people to consider the potential social and environmental impacts of their everyday actions by offering simple and practical solutions.”

Also available is a ‘Renters Guide to Sustainable Living’, information about the Green Loans scheme and energy and water saving rebate application forms.

The sustainability resources can be downloaded for free from council’s website at or collected from council’s front counter.
