RECKLESS violence is how driver Andrew Green described the vandalising of a coach in Byron Bay at the weekend.

The Coffs Harbour Coach Tours vehicle suffered more than $16,000 worth of damage when vandals took to it with golf clubs.

Mr Green said Byron Bay deserved its bad reputation and he would not bring any more coaches to the area.

The coach had been hired for the weekend by a group of golfers from Coffs Harbour. The incident occurred early Sunday morning while the coach was parked in Bangalow Road.

Vandals broke into the luggage compartment and took out three sets of golf clubs which they used to smash up the coach.

Seven windows were broken and several golf clubs snapped.

Nobody was on board at the time and no arrests have been made.
