Byron Shire restaurants in line for top awards

As co-owner of Fishheads at Byron Bay Ralph Mamone knows a thing or two about the restaurant business.
“Dining out these days is so much more than just getting a good meal,” he said.
“It’s about the whole experience. The food, the service, the ambience, everything.
“You want to come away from your dining experience knowing that you and your guests had a great night and that you will return.”
Fishheads is one of 13 Byron Shire restaurants and cafes which have received nominations for the 2009 Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence (northern NSW and New England).
The annual awards recognise excellence in food, service and acknowledge best practice in the hospitality industry.
Mr Mamone said the awards were a great way of recognising and showcasing local restaurants and cafes.
He said the awards also acknowledged the hard work and dedication of staff.
“The staff really are the heroes, and these awards go a long way to recognising their talent,” Mr Mamone said.
“Byron Shire has some of the best restaurants in the world, so why shouldn’t we show them off.”
