Byron Bay named top surf club

Byron Bay Surf Club has taken out the coveted Newcastle Permanent Surf Life Saving Far North Coast Club of the Year award.

Club members, Shannon Hulbert-Green has been named NRMA female competitor of the year and Max Tutt the Cummings Retravision administrator of the year.

Brunswick Surf Club’s Max McRae took out the Richmond Mortgage Fund cadet lifesaver of the year award.

Winners of the various categories were announced at the Surf Life Saving Far North Coast awards of excellence function at Yamba.

Byron Bay’s Glen Lawrence won a highly commended award in the male competitor of the year section, as was Brunswick’s Terry Currie in the TURSA training officer of the year category.

Branch president John Beasley said the annual awards of excellence was an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the outstanding efforts of members throughout the past season.

Lennox Head’s Tanyn Lyndon was named male competitor of the year for the third consecutive season.
