A new incarnation of the Easter Arts Classic, the Byron Arts Classic, will be held for the first time in January 2010.
Originally established in 1982, the Easter classic was an annual expo creating an opportunity for talented artists and for the local community and its many visitors from around the globe to celebrate and share the gifts of the region's artisans.
The new exhibition will be held in the Byron Bay Community Centre, and will be an annual event, giving everyone the chance to show their artistic talents in a public space.
This event will showcase paintings, sculpture, drawings, textiles and photography from the artists who reside in the shires of Byron, Ballina, Lismore and Tweed.
This very popular high-profile event will offer for the first time an acquisitive and cash prizes for winners of their selected categories.
It is a fantastic opportunity for artists to showcase their work and be in the running for some very generous prizes.
It is for this reason that after a seven-year break, a small group of volunteers spearheaded by co-ordinator Tess Cullen has begun preparations for the return of the four-day event.
