Business president resigns

LONG-serving Byron United president Sevegne Newton has resigned.

Announcing her departure in this week's Byron United newsletter, Ms Newton said she was stepping aside to concentrate on the Byron Naturally Campaign as voluntary campaign director.

"I have been a board member for over five years now and thought it was time to move in another direction," she said.

"It has been an enlightening, fascinating and frustrating experience that I have really loved.

"I would like to thank all of you for your support and the incredible feedback you have given me regarding the newsletters.

"It got me back in touch with some old journalism skills I thought I had put to bed.

"I want to thank (executive officer) Diana Ricketts, without whom I would not have been able to do half of what I wanted. She has been an enormous support alongside John Gudgeon, whose counsel was so very important."
