Brisbane council bans image of two men kissing
BRISBANE City Council has confirmed it yesterday ordered a stop on one of three proposed billboard advertisements for the Brisbane Queer Film Festival.
The billboard would have depicted a publicity image of two men rolling in sand at a beach and kissing passionately.
The Queer Film Festival proposed that the posters be displayed on billboards across the CBD and surrounds.
"We are mindful of the community's views and believe that one of the three posters may be seen by many as too confronting," said Cr Krista Adams.
"I have been advised that, in the meantime, an alternate billboard design will be used."
Council is a strong supporter of an inclusive and harmonious community.
This ban was in order for a review to be conducted by the Advertising Standards Board.
