WHILE they once would have baulked at the prospect of dance classes, a group of Ipswich boys are now happy to bust a move with the best of them.
Westside Performers principal Carlie Murray said all boy hip-hop classes started in February after the studio was flooded with inquiries from parents.
Ms Murray said the classes currently catered for boys aged eight through to 13, with participants taught basic hip-hop dance moves.
“We had heaps of boys who wanted to do it, but were scared off by so many girls,” Ms Murray said.
“Even though it is becoming more acceptable for boys, they were put off by the fact they were outnumbered.
“We had a few people ask us if we had all boy classes and we thought we would give it a go.”
Karalee resident Kelly Robinson, 10, said the classes were a lot of fun.
“I like the fact that you are always moving around and jumping,” he said.
The classes will take a hiatus and return later in the year. For more information contact 0422 482 517 or visit www.westsideperformers.net.au.
