Body of young man found in a Coffs Harbour creek
2PM: Police are especially keen to speak with a truck driver who was travelling on the Pacific Hwy on Sunday night.
The driver purportedly had to swerve to miss a man on the highway between Park Beach Rd/Bray St and Wentworth Ave intersections between 10.30pm and midnight.
The deceased man wore blue jeans and work boots, and may have been seen carrying a white t-shirt.
He was Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance.
NOON: Police are appealing for information after the discovery of a body in Tree Fern Creek.
About 3.20pm yesterday police found the body of a man in the Coffs Creek tributary.
Police were searching for a missing local man, last seen in the area about 11pm on Sunday night after a party.
He was reported missing on Monday by his partner, who was concerned for his welfare.
Inquiries led police to begin a search of parkland at Wentworth Ave at 3pm on Wednesday and the body was found a short time later.
9.00am: A post mortem is being carried out on the body of a young male found by police in Tree Fern Creek off Wentworth Ave, Coffs Harbour.
Police said detectives made the discovery on Wednesday around 3pm.
A crime scene was established at the location.
The body was retrieved and has since undergone forensic examination.
Police confirmed the body was that of a 19-year-old male who was reported missing by family earlier this week.
The cause of death will be established in a report to the coroner.
Police are expected to release further details later today.
