Body of Irish backpacker found on rocks

A body found washed on to rocks at Brunswick Heads on Saturday has been identified as that of missing Irish backpacker, Niall McDonough.

Mr McDonough, 30, went missing on June 12 and was last seen by his girlfriend.

A post-mortem examination formally identified McDonough.

Members of the backpacker’s family arrived at Byron Bay last Thursday. A report for the coroner will be prepared.
