Boardriders help local organisations

Byron Bay Boardriders last week handed over $2300 to local organisations. The club presented the Disabled Surfers Association with a cheque for $500 while the Cape Byron Coastal Patrol received $1000.

The family of the late Jessie Walker, a member of the boardriders club who was killed in a car crash earlier this year, also received $800.

Boardriders president Bryce Cameron said the money was raised through membership fees, the annual Ben King Memorial Surf Classic and through the sale of tickets for a surfboard donated by former Byron Bay professional surfer Danny Wills and signed by a number of professional surfers and musicians.
