Melbourne Heart board loses patience with Aloisi
FORMER coach John van't Schip will take over the reins at Melbourne Heart following the sacking yesterday of John Aloisi.
The Heart board confirmed the former Socceroo's contract had been terminated two years into a three-year deal at the club.
Aloisi's sacking came after a 1-0 defeat to Wellington on Friday left the Heart rooted to the bottom of the A-League ladder.
The Heart has not won a game this season and has now gone 17 games without success since a win over Sydney FC in February.
Aloisi leaves the club after 39 games in which the team had eight wins, seven draws and 24 losses.
Chairman Sidwell tried to strike a positive note, saying that the club still aimed to play finals this season, despite being 12 points off the top six.
A statement from the Heart said the decision came following a weekend meeting of the board which concluded that a decision to terminate Aloisi's contract as coach was in the club's best interests.
