BROWNLOW medallist Simon Black admitted he felt like a first gamer running out for the Brisbane Lions reserves against Broadbeach at Coorparoo on Saturday.

The 34-year-old was returning after knee surgery in December and racked up 26 disposals in the 80-point victory.

Black said he was surprised how well his knee felt, but added he was unsure whether he would need another hit out in the twos before returning to the senior side.

"I'm probably on the fence a bit, I'm not sure. No doubt another run would certainly prove beneficial," he said.

"It's great to get a run in the legs and hopefully in three or four weeks I can find my match fitness and start to play some good footy."

Utility Brent Staker also made his comeback from successive knee injuries in the match, his first since August, 2011.

Staker had 15 disposals and kicked a goal but is likely to need a few more weeks in the reserves before being ready to return to AFL level.

Brisbane plays Melbourne at the Gabba on Sunday giving coach Michael Voss the chance to take a conservative path with both players.
