Billycart Derby spills and thrills

With 250 starters, last Sunday’s 15th annual Bangalow Billycart Derby was one of the biggest yet.

The town’s main street was packed with spectators lined up behind bales of hay watching billycarts of all shapes and sizes race down the hill.

As usual, not all of them made it to the finish line, with plenty of spills during the day’s racing in a host of different categories.

But after some attention from Brunswick Valley Rescue volunteers, he got up and was OK.

While the day was mostly about billycarts, there also was a grand parade and plenty of fun activities for kids.
