Subaru endorse local dealer as Australia's finest

IPSWICH car dealer Llewellyn Motors seems to be on the right track when it comes to selling one of the region's most popular car brands.

The Booval-based business was recently crowned National Subaru Dealer of the Year - and the title didn't come easy.

To win the prestigious award, the Subaru dealer had to establish itself as Australia's number one in vehicle sales, service and parts and accessories.

"You're not only judged on how many cars you sell," principal dealer Wade Llewellyn said. "You have to have a high level of customer satisfaction as well."

Mr Llewellyn said the family business had been pitted against publicly listed companies in places like Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

"It was tough competition, which makes the achievement all the more satisfying," he said.

"I think it's fitting though that Australia's number one city is the location for Australia's number one dealer."

With 180 workers at Llewellyn Motors - 50 employed within its Subaru branch - Mr Llewellyn said the achievement had been a team effort.

"It takes about 25 people to deliver each car," he said.

"Someone has to order it, someone has to register it, someone has to give it a mechanical inspection, someone's got to sell it - there are a lot of things that happen in the process.

"So the win was a boost for the whole team because everyone had been involved in achieving that award."

Mr Llewellyn said Australia enjoyed one of the highest market shares of Subaru worldwide and the brand was a popular seller in Ipswich.

"It's particularly well-liked by families who enjoy outdoor activities as well as people in our biking community," he said.

"It's also a popular choice for professionals like doctors and lawyers and people in the defence force."
