Northern NSW horses can hack it
PINK trailers, pink buckets and pink gum boots were out in force at Lismore Showground on Saturday for the 12th annual Northern NSW Hack Championship.
The majority of the 82 riders entered in the show horse championships are female said Northern NSW Show Horse Club secretary, Deyarne Pointon-Wales, “although there are a few gentleman riders.”
Organisers said the 246 “hacks” on show were some of the best horses in the country in terms of looks, personality and bone structure.
They competed in Open, Show, Ponies, Galloways and Show Hunter categories.
“It’s an amazing journey watching an animal go from the paddock to the ring,” said Aaron Woodlark, assistant to Gold Coast rider Kim Durante, who is 10 times winner of the Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney Royals for Open Hack.
