BRISBANE flight attendant Ben Zabel is now pulling the strings on Big Brother.

The 30-year-old was tonight's fake evictee after receiving the largest percentage of the public vote.

He was taken to the Presidential Suite by a masked crew member, who gave him headphones to listen to a special message from host Sonia Kruger.

"Ben your eviction is a fake," host Sonia Kruger told him.

Zabel was lost for words, sharing a quiet giggle with Kruger and the studio audience.

"I feel so lucky," he said.

"I'm so happy to stay here and play on."

Zabel is the only Queenslander left on the show after Sunshine Coast surfer and former soldier Matt Filippi was sent home in tonight's only real eviction.

The new, albeit temporary, puppet master will stay in hiding for the next 24 hours, with special access to spy on his fellow housemates and influence tomorrow's nominations.

"I don't know how to feel; I'm not used to having power," Zabel said to Big Brother.

"I'm ready to work with you. I'll do my best."

Big Brother described the latest twist as "power and insight above and beyond" that ever given to a housemate in the show's history.

Zabel will also be safe from next week's eviction.
