Byron Youth Concert and Beethoven recital
A surprise donation of $3000 to the Byron Music Society will help ensure the world renowned Steinway Grand Piano in the Byron Community Centre continues to shine.
The donation comes on the eve of a performance by the internationally renowned Beethoven specialist Gerard Willems and the Byron Youth Concert his Sunday.
Secretary of the Byron Music Society, Joanne Ajana said the money would go toward the $40,000 required for the upkeep and over haul of the Grand Piano to keep it at concert standard.
"The quality of our instrument draws top flight artists to the region to perform," said Ms Ajana.
"We are very grateful for this donation and hope that other community members will see the value of this community asset and be inspired to contribute.
The Steinway will feature in a Youth Concert at 1pm this Sunday 17 November at the Byron Community Centre.
"Bring the children to hear some of the most amazing young talent across the Byron Shire region," said Ms Ajana.
"You'll see the Three Sisters, on guitar, ukulele and cello; a trumpet duet, Steinway piano recitals and much more."
