Bay FM wins world radio award

BYRON BAY community radio Bay FM 99.9 has won an accolade at the New York Festival's International Radio Program Awards 2015.

The three-part documentary series Memories of Sarajevo, produced by Arts Canvass presenter Karena Wynn-Moylan, took the Bronze prize in the World Documentary - Social Issues category.

The Silver prize was taken by ABC Radio program Story Box 500.

SBS Radio also won an award in the Human Interest category for its program Blackmailed.

Memories of Sarajevo chronicles the development of a community radio in Sarajevo during the Balkan War, called Radio Zid.

The awards were announced overnight in New York.
