Bat seized as police appeal for witnesses to killing

POLICE are appealing for information following the death of a man at Goonellabah last month.

Dennis Dalton was found with severe head injuries outside his Goonellabah home at about 5.30am on June 6.

Paramedics were called to the scene and 29-year-old Mr Dalton was taken to Lismore Base Hospital before being airlifted to the Gold Coast Hospital in a critical condition.

He died in hospital as a result of his injuries on June 26.

It has been established by police that Mr Dalton was involved in a fight in Churchward Pl earlier on the morning of June 6.

Richmond Local Area Command crime manager Detective Inspector Cameron Lindsay said the fight in which a baseball bat was used occurred in nearby Eggins Pl.

Det Insp Lindsay said police had seized the baseball bat as evidence.

Richmond Local Area Command detectives have been speaking to a number of people in relation to the incident.

Charges are yet to be laid and police area appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident on Churchward Pl to call Lismore police on 6626 0599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
