JUST three eliminations into the live X Factor shows and Brisbane's Dami Im is the only singer left flying the flag for the over 24s.
Coach Dannii Minogue's stable took a hit again last night when R& B singer Barry Southgate was sent home by the other three coaches.
But Southgate, 30, seems pleased with making it to the Top 10 on the reality singing competition.
"I'm so proud of how far I've come. I entered the show as a singer and left as a performer," he told APN.
"I left feeling like I'd won an Olympic medal.
"The show allowed me to work on my weaknesses. I was very set in my ways, inhibited, but now I'm like 'bring it on'."
Southgate is backing Im to win the show over her younger competitors.
"Dami said to me 'You can't leave, we have to eat together'. We always have a celebration junk food meal on Tuesdays," he said.
"The great thing about Dami is she doesn't see how amazing she truly is. At least we had each other, but now she's alone."
While he downplayed his pitch problems in his performance of Katy Perry's California Girls on Sunday night, Southgate admitted to worrying about "jacking up" Perry's song.
"I had dinner with Katy Perry's parents and I know her brother so, you know, I didn't want to jack up Katy's song," he said.
"Every week it's like dipping your hand in a hat and getting a role and you have to commit to it 100 percent. I could either freak out or go for it.
"It was a fun song and I had fun, so no regrets."
The greatest winner of the show this week appears to be coach Redfoo, whose new single Let's Get Ridiculous shot to the top of the Australian iTunes chart after he performed the song on Sunday's show.
The X Factor airs Sundays at 6.30pm and Mondays at 7.30pm on Channel 7.
