Bangalow puts on its happy face for TV

NOW the whole country knows. Bangalow is the happiest town in Australia.

Well, at least according to the Sunrise TV breakfast show it is.

And yesterday, one of the show’s presenters, James Tobin, broadcasting live, showed the rest of the nation why the town won the title.

There was a bit of quickly-organised fun for the TV cameras on a chilly, but clear, morning including a mock billycart race down the main street and a mini-horse parade.

It all came about because Eva Heath from Heath’s Old Wares and Collectables was thinking one morning 10 weeks ago how lucky she was to be waking up in Bangalow every day.

It happened to coincide with an announcement on the Sunrise show that they were starting a Happy Town competition and inviting people to submit 100-word entries.

Eva submitted an entry and forgot about it until she received a call from the show last week to say her entry had won.

“I am chuffed. I am so excited,” she said.

“The Northern Rivers is very much a family-focused area and I think that Bangalow is the epitome of the Northern Rivers.

“It’s a happy town. It’s fabulous.”
