Bangalow loses tight encounter

Bangalow played Kyogle, going down in the last five minutes 13-10 in a tight encounter last Saturday.

Bangalow ran with the wind in the first half scoring a try through inside centre Dick Collins.

Kyogle managed a penalty to narrow the lead before half-time.

Kyogle scored from a quick tap 50 metres out midway through the half to take the lead 10-7 before Kerry Jennings kicked a penalty to level the scores.

A penalty was given away in the dying stages and Kyogle slotted it for the win.

You could say the locals deserved to win with a big effort being shown across the park.

Countless try scoring opportunities were lost due to poor skills from Bangalow that could have seen the score blow out.

The scrum was dominant but the lineout, discipline, backline play and control of possession left a lot to be desired.

Best for Bangalow was loose head prop Chris Fezz Davies and fullback Matt Hill.

On August 28 Bangalow (third) play Byron Bay (fourth) in the minor semi at Bangalow for the right to play the loser of the major semi between Yamba and Kyogle.
