Baines can’t wait for crucial game

EVERTON'S Leighton Baines is confident England can get the job done in its must-win final World Cup qualifier against Poland at Wembley tomorrow morning (AEST).

England has to beat the Poles to ensure it wins Group H and automatically qualify for next year's tournament in Brazil.

Any other result would let in Ukraine, which plays minnows San Marino in its final game, and the English would have to go through the dreaded playoff route.

Baines, who is set to deputise again for the injured Ashely Cole said playing in this final qualifier meant everything to him.

"Qualifying for a World Cup is as big a carrot as you could probably dangle in front of any player," he said.

"World Cups don't come around too often in a player's career.

"Everyone is hungry for that opportunity to get there and we are one game away from there.

"We know what job needs to be done and hopefully we will do it."

Poland held England to a 1-1 draw when the teams last met a year ago in Warsaw when the qualifier was rescheduled after torrential rain.
