Baby girl dies after being found in backyard pool

A BABY girl is dead after being pulled from a swimming pool on the weekend.

The one-year-old girl was found floating in the pool of a Raby home, in Sydney's south-west, on Sunday afternoon.
When police and paramedics arrived at the home, an adult was already performing CPR on the child.

She was taken to hospital but police confirmed the tiny child was pronounced dead a short time later.

Sydney Morning Herald reports the pool was fenced and it was not clear how the girl reached the water.

The horror death comes weeks after two sisters Taya young, 4, and Patricia Young, 3, drowned in their backyard pool in the south-Brisbane suburb of Logan.

Police at the time described their deaths as an "absolute tragedy".
