Aussies lose out again at Las Vegas Sevens

AUSTRALIA coach Geraint John has lamented his team losing to yet another top contender, New Zealand, 28-7, in the quarter-finals of the Las Vegas Sevens.

Australia is yet to win a sevens tournament this season, the gambling and entertainment mecca being the fifth stop on the calendar with four rounds remaining.

The Australians showed impressive pool form with wins over Brazil (45-0), France (31-14) and Scotland (40-14), before a very disappointing effort against the Kiwis, who are second on the overall standings.

"It's something we have to look at. We're not performing against the very top teams at the moment," John said.

The Aussies, featuring Allan Fa'alava'au (pictured) will take on Canada in the semi-finals of the plate this morning. New Zealand will take on surprise packet the USA in one cup semi-final, with Fiji to play South Africa in the other major semi-final.
