Aussies into quarter-finals of Hong Kong Sevens
AUSTRALIA has topped pool A at the Hong Kong Sevens and progressed to the quarter-finals after beating Samoa (22-19), Korea (52-0) and England (12-10).
Australia will play the second-placed finisher in Pool D in either USA or Argentina on Sunday (12.58pm AEST).
"I thought it was a great game of rugby when we beat England," said Australia coach Andy Friend.
"For our blokes to hold on and get that win, showed a lot of character and it's really good for their momentum and confidence.
"We know now that we can beat those top sides and hopefully it gives the team some belief and we'll keep building on that.
"Making the quarter-finals counts for nothing unless we can back it up again tomorrow.
"We'll make sure we are prepped and rested for that match and we'll be firing to go."
Australia star Henry Hutchison added: "It's massive (defeating England) for this team.
"We are a young side and we have been slowly building and to knock off England is going to do great things for us.
"The boys are really mixing well.
"We're out here to have fun and we are enjoying each other's company.
"We have some solid game plans and we are executing it."
