WINTER SPORTS: Australia top skiing and snowboarders will look to continue their amazing run of form when the world champions hips start in Sierra Nevada today.
The Aussies have been anything but left out in the cold during the northern hemisphere winter, 13 competitors raking in 34 medals in World Cup events.
It has been raining gold for the likes of moguls skier Britt Cox (seven wins), aerial skier and comeback queen Lydia Lassila (three) and snowboarder Belle Brockhoff (two).
Team Australia will now aim for at least six medals in Spain. It claimed four in Austria at the last world titles two years ago.
"I think it's been the added experience under everyone's belt,” Brockhoff said.
"I know everyone on the Australian team are incredibly passionate with what they do too and work very hard to come in stronger each season.”
Fellow snowboarder Alex Pullin will be aiming for a third world championship win.
The world championships is a key lead-up event to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea next February
