Asia screams for Darling Downs ice cream at trade show

DARLING Downs Ice Cream Co took its product to a world stage at Asia's premier food and hospitality trade show HOFEX in Hong Kong.

Darling Downs Ice Cream Co was a co-exhibitor at the Queensland Government's booth for the event which ran from May 8-13.

Darling Downs Ice Cream Co is renowned for its passion behind ice cream and drive to be the leader in innovative ice cream releases.

The third generation of the Reisinger family is the driving force behind the business.

Together with their technical team, they are proud to have created an Australian-first probiotic, low-sugar water bar called "wonder pops".

Along with this release, they also worked tirelessly on creating another Australian first - coconut ice cream on a stick for children and adults who aren't able to experience a dairy ice cream.

In total 36 delegates from 23 Queensland companies participated in the international show.

Eleven companies, including Darling Downs Ice Cream Co, then travelled to Taiwan to explore further business opportunities.

Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment Curtis Pitt said it was the first trade mission under the new Queensland Trade and Investment Strategy 2017-2022, which was launched last month.

"HOFEX is a biennial food and beverage trade show targeting the hospitality and food sector that attracts over 40,000 buyers from Hong Kong, China, and north-east Asian markets," he said.

"As part of the new strategy, the Palaszczuk Government committed to helping more Queensland companies into overseas markets through key showcase events.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for delegates on this mission to showcase Queensland's outstanding processed food, seafood, functional food, wine and beverage products to key importers, buyers, supermarkets and food servicing companies in a region which simply can't get enough of what our state has to offer.

"Queensland has a reputation for producing a range of premium food and beverages in a clean, green and safe environment which is why demand for our products continues to grow, particularly in Asia."
