Brad Arthur, Chris Sandow not eye-to-eye in Parramatta

PARRAMATTA fans are about to find out the wisdom of the club's decision to deny Chris Sandow an immediate release.

The halfback hasn't exactly seen eye-to-eye with coach Brad Arthur this season, the Cherbourg-born Sandow playing an off-the-cuff style, while Arthur is big on following team structure.

Sandow wanted an immediate release to join Super League side Warrington, but Arthur said: "I have to do what's best for this team and this club, and that's keeping our squad intact. Moving forward we can't be affording to pay players to play at other clubs".

The coach also said he was confident Sandow would bring the right attitude to tonight's match against the Bulldogs.

The Eels are 12th on the ladder on 18 competition points, one win below the eighth-placed Bulldogs, and the team will need him to fire tonight.

Parramatta will start outsiders for this game, with the big Bulldogs pack one which will be tough to stop.

Giant young edge forward for Canterbury, Shaun Lane, has added an extra dimension to the team's attack.

He has scored a try in each of his past two games and also combined beautifully on the right edge with halfback Trent Hodkinson in his side's 20-4 win against the Storm in round 16.

The Eels have looked a far more organised team since Corey Norman shifted to fullback.

His nine try assists and 10 line-break assists a good indication of his ball-playing skills.
