You can show you care

Residents and visitors will have the chance to join together at Byron Bay on Sunday afternoon to show their support for the victims of the devastating Asian tsunami.

There will be a simple 30-minute gathering near the Peace Pole in Denning Park at Main Beach starting with three-minutes' silence at 5 pm. It will be followed by a short prayer or blessing from representatives of all faiths in the shire.

The gathering will end with a silent walk to the water's edge where flowers will be cast into the ocean.

People who want to join in the walk across the beach are asked to bring a basket of frangipani, or other flowers.

There will be no fund-raising before, during, or after the gathering.
