Surfers code sign unveiled

The second Surfers Code sign in the Byron Shire was unveiled at Captain Cook Lookout at Byron Bay last Friday by Environment Minister, Bob Debus.

The surfboard-shaped sign is located at the beginning of the pathway leading down to the beach.

With Mr Debus at the unveiling were Byron Mayor, Cr Jan Barham, surfing legend Nat Young, the driving force behind the code, president of the Byron Bay Boardriders club, Ben King and Arakwal National Park ranger, Sean Kay.

The first Surfers Code sign was erected at Broken Head a couple of months ago and further signs are planned for Main Beach, Cosy Corner and Wategos.
