Rory nails building award

Byron Bay designer and builder, Rory O'Halloran, is celebrating a major win in the 2004 NRMA Insurance HIA NSW Housing Awards, the industry's top honours.

Mr O'Halloran's company, Byron Design and Construction won the category for a custom built home under $700,000 for a house built for a Federal client.

Elizabeth Crouch, the HIA's NSW executive director, commended Mr O'Halloran on his excellent design and attention to detail.

She said Byron Design and Construction should be proud of its achievements in delivering a truly impressive project which was highly innovative and made extensive use of recycled timber.

Mr O'Halloran, who attended the awards ceremony in Sydney, paid tribute to his "discerning clients, a highly professional and dependable team of local contractors, suppliers and associates and a commitment to design and build housing that is specially suited to the North Coast's unique climate, environment and lifestyle".

"My clients had a major involvement in this project throughout the design and construction stages and were a delight to work with," he said.

"We share this award with them and all who were involved in creating this special pavilion-style residence."
