Byron Bay Surf Club is one of 10 Far North Coast surf clubs to benefit from new sponsorship from RACQ Insurance.

On Monday, RACQ Insurance executive manager, Peter Hilan, presented a $5000 cheque to surf club president, Mark Brown.

The money will be used to buy muchneeded new rescue equipment.

RACQ Insurance chief executive, Ian Norris, said the company operated on the principle of supporting the communities in which it operated.

"Given the great service volunteer lifesavers provide to locals and visitors alike in this popular tourist region, we couldn't think of a more worthy community service to support," he said.
