Bangalow's first women's fashion parade (last Thursday night) was a great success, with hundreds of people packing the heritage A & I Hall to see the latest fashions from the many Bangalow outlets, while money raised goes to the maintenance of the hall.

Morag Page was the last-minute MC, after Fiona Whyllie was unable to do the show. Alana Manion, of Bangalow 2479, who originated the parade idea and did much of the organising, was inspired when she added women's clothing to the antiques and homewares she sells.

"Bangalow has become well known for the variety of intereting shops, but I thought that many locals didn't realise how many places sell clothing now," says Alana.

"We are thrilled with how it all went."
