Murals plan gets go ahead

Byron Bay businessman Paul McCarthy's campaign to have some of the murals from the old Byron bay Community Centre returned to the exterior of the new building has taken a step forward with centre management approving the erection of six murals. They will be erected on the northern wall and are expected to be up by Christmas. But, there's a catch - Mr McCarthy needs to raise about $6000 for the project. "I have the support of the chamber of commerce and a DA for the erection of the murals has been submitted to the Byron council," Mr McCarthy said. "Donations for the project are tax deductible and the plans can be viewed at the community centre." Mr McCarthy said the murals would add a bit of colour to the CBD.
