Byron surfers living it up

Byron Bay surfers Johnny Abegg and Josh Lewan are 'living it up' in New York taking in the amazing sites and competing in four World Qualifying Series (WQS) surfing events.

The Byron News last week received an email from Johnny which said that he and Josh had been staying in New York and travelling by train or car to the four surfing events which were being held on the East Coast of the US.

"We have visited Atlantic City, a crazy, diverse gambling town and have been surfing on a stretch of coast, almost unknown for its waves," Johnny (pictured) said.

"A wide variety of surf was on offer from 1ft slop to 4ft hurricane-based wind chop, to 2-3ft bumps with sun, rain and wind.

"We performed quite well, Jock Barnes from Lennox Head placed seventh, I was 13th and Josh was 25th."
