Bangalow NSW Fire Brigade has presented a plaque of appreciation to battery company, Energizer, for donating batteries for its home smoke detector project.
Since starting the program six years ago, the brigade has handed out detectors to about 600 homes in the area.
Under a statewide program called SABRE - Smoke Alarm Battery Replacement for Elderly - batteries are replaced by brigade members.
Up until recently when Energizer came on board, brigade members had raised money for the batteries through barbecues.
Pictured handing over the plaque to Energizer representative, Helena O'Halloran, is deputy zone commander Northern Rivers, Chris Fabri.
Also pictured (l to r) are brigade members Matt Powell, Rick Fitzgerald, Rod Westblade and brigade captain, Gary Potter.
