WEIGHT loss expert and low-fat cookbook author Annette Sym loves nothing more than cooking for her family and friends.

A Buderim resident, Mrs Sym lost 35kg in 20 months and has successfully maintained her healthy weight range since 1993 using her low-fat recipes and healthy lifestyle. She said having a busy work-life meant her weekends were a special time for her.

This weekend she is making one of her favourites, gluten-free treats.

Annette said on the weekend a group of friends would come over to play hand and foot, which is a version of the card game, Canasta. "It's a lot of fun," she said.

When Annette is not busy entertaining, her preferred weekend pastimes are going to the beach for a swim, hitting the gym or relaxing by her pool.

"The weekend is a time to kick back and forget about everything," she said.

She said her perfect Sunday would involve cooking for her friends and family and just enjoying their company.

"I love entertaining ... and spending time with my family and friends," Annette said.
