Ambulance flips with patient inside

A PARAMEDIC will be flown to hospital this afternoon after an ambulance crash at Tweed Heads.

Around 2.15pm the New South Wales ambulance was travelling north on the Gold Coast Highway at Tweed Heads when it collided with a car towing a boat at the M1 on ramp.

The ambulance flipped and rolled a number of times with a heart attack patient inside.

The patient was taken to John Flynn Hospital for treatment and one paramedic will be flown to Gold Coast University Hospital with abdominal injuries.

The occupants of the vehicle towing the boat are not believed to be injured.

Police from Tweed Heads Local Area Command are investigating the crash.
