SO THIS is it: Easter is done and dusted. All we need to do now is get through the school holidays and we may then get a few quiet waves.

Well, that's how it used to work in the old days. Of course, these days there is no off-season. But hey, we can dream, can't we?

Fact is there have actually been a few decent and not so crazily crowded waves around over the last week. Hard to believe I know, but it's true.

The trick is to actually look beyond the online streaming videos. In other words, get out and do an actual surf check. In the meantime, if you're looking for a little beachside entertainment, don't forget that the Byron Bay Malibu Classic will be running at Wategos Beach this Friday until Sunday.
