New CD celebrates the vibe of Byron
BYRON Vibes has grown from a fun party at the Byron Bay Brewery to a space for local artists to meet, perform and collaborate.
The collective is now bearing more fruit: a CD with the music that has made it a special daytime event on the Byron calendar.
"After many months of creative labour, with an incredible team, we're thrilled to be hosting the first Byron Vibes album launch which features a fusion of artists from around the North Coast," said co-founder Robert Paton.
On the day, Byron Vibes will be featuring live bands and artists, an interactive live jam, the Funmaker Silent Disco, a selection of market stalls, face painting for all ages (a Byron Vibes signature), VJ Pumayana, a live collaborative Artwomb canvas and sculpture among other things.
It will roll into a night of psychedelic, funk, reggae and party music at the Buddha Bar.
The album is a beautiful mix of many styles, just as the community is.
Summer Of Love by Rohin Knight and Byron Town by Substance are early confirmation that this is a record put together by talented locals.
Ivette Meow offers a sample of her great vocal skills in The Simple Things, followed by the cruisy Baby Love by James Pattugalan.
The mix of styles continue with Professional Fool by Kobya, A Good Friend by Florence Pardoe, World Gone Mad by Raz Bin San, Vodoo by Tranceq, and Bone Shaker by Pure Velour.
There is also the smooth sounds of JaFFer in Something Good, a song as sexy as they come.
Living Up by Wandering Eyes is a tune we've heard on Bay FM before and it sums up the cruisy, easygoing Byron lifestyle.
Adja Black and Horace Bevan perform A Long Time Gone, a stylish song with strong vocals and a simple arrangement that suits the song's tone perfectly.
Robert Paton is the executive producer of the first Byron Vibes album, with Michael Rafferty, Luke Horsfield, Kylie Budgen and Nadine Smith as project managers.
