Light plane crash near Noosa

THREE men have walked away without serious injuries after a plane they were in flipped as it was attempting to land at Cootharaba - near Noosa.

One male, in 60s, was taken to Nambour Hospital after emergency crews were called to the scene about 3.40pm.

The two other passengers who were in the plane when it flipped did not require treatment.

A QAS spokesman said the aircraft involved was a single engine Maule Aeroplane and it is believed the crash occurred after a wheel on the landing gear collapsed - causing the plane to flip.

The scene was attended by firecrews from Noosa and Pormona and the last Queensland Fire and Emergency Services personnel left the scene about 5.40pm.

It's understood shortly after the crash occurred all three men were out of the plane and walking around.
