From ABBA to FABBA a high energy tribute

ABBA was one of the most successful acts in the history of music until their split in 1982.

Selling more than 380 million albums and singles worldwide, the charismatic group topped the charts.

Forming in 1972, ABBA was the first group to come from a non-English- speaking country that enjoyed consistent success in the charts of English-speaking countries.

Comprising Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, their success cemented them as one of the best-selling music artists of all time, and the second-best selling music group of all time.

So it's no surprise tribute band FABBA continues to garner success, fuelled by the legacy of their inspirational musical forefathers.

FABBA has been established since 1996, initially as the FABBA girls.

In 2000 auditions were held to find Benny, Bjorn and a drummer and bass player.

In September 2000 FABBA was re-formed as a live six-piece show band, bringing the best of ABBA to the stage in a dedicated reproduction of the ABBA sound.

The addition of modern theatrics and sound was merely the icing on the cake; bringing contemporary style to the songs, as seen in the 1999 musical/movie Mamma Mia, which toured worldwide to considerable success.

The FABBA show has an entire wardrobe designed to capture the complete look of ABBA - from the 70s to now and every FABBA show is tailored to suit individual events, from costumes, scripting through to the song list.

FABBA promises to deliver a show that is "highly energetic, visually captivating, musically brilliant, audience engaging and always totally entertaining".

As they put it, the band "will take your audience on a fantastic journey to places even the Priscilla bus hasn't been".

The tribute band consists of Anthea Jackson, Anita Hartmann, Tim Johnson and David Goyen, all dedicated to reproducing an accurate and entertaining ABBA sound.

  • FABBA will perform at Twin Towns Services Club on January 8 at 10.30am.
  • Tickets cost $5 for members and $10 for non-members and can be purchased by calling show bookings on 1800 014 014.
