RETIRED couple and self-confessed fitness junkies John and Marion Murray reckon a day not started at the gym is one wasted.
Every morning before the crack of dawn, they head to Jett's Fitness and workout for at least an hour.
"We come here every morning between four and five," Mr Murray, 75, said.
"We work out for about an hour. I don't really see what the big deal is."
The fitness regime has helped Mrs Murray, 73, strengthen the muscles around her heart after she was diagnosed with Long QT Syndrome, an electrical fault in the heart which causes it to beat too fast.
"It has definitely helped," she said.
"When I see the doctor in Brisbane, he just shakes his head at what we do."
Bucking the usual trend for retired couples, Mr and Mrs Murray said they had done all the travelling they wanted and now enjoyed a healthy life in Toowoomba.
"I want to live for another 75 years," Mr Murray said with a laugh.
"Getting to the gym definitely makes me feel better than when I don't go."
